How to watch Netflix with friends? Use Netflix Party or Teleparty!
No more feeling lonely while watching movies during your quarantine days with Netflix Party. It’s a new program from Netflix that allows you to invite your friends, partner or relatives watching the same movies together online.
Netflix Party or Teleparty is FREE. You can invite up to 50 friends to participate. And you can invite friends from different countries as long as Netflix is available.
However, you should double-check if the movies are available in other’s regions.
Netflix Teleparty is not only limited to Netflix. You can use it to watch movies on HBO, Hulu, or Disney+.
How to download Netflix Party
Currently, it is ONLY available on Google Chrome and soon in the Microsoft Edge web browsers. It ONLY runs on laptop or computers.
It is NOT available on other web browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, and others.
Do the following steps to get it on Google Chrome:
- Download and install Google Chrome web browser on your computer.
- Open Google Chrome and visit this page to download Netflix Party extension.
- Click the Add to Chrome button.
- When it’s done, you will see a red or gray “NP” button on your Chrome toolbar.
Note: To uninstall, type chrome://extensions in the address bar. Select Netflix Party and choose Remove.
How to host a Movie
- Login into your Netflix account. Check if you are on your main account profile.
- Play a movie.
- Click the NP button on the toolbar to start hosting.
- Share the link to your friends.
Note: Your account should be on a standard or premium Netflix membership plan that lets multiple viewers at the same time.
How to join Netflix Party
The participants should have Netflix Teleparty extension installed on their Google Chrome web browser in advance.
- Click the party link. It will direct you to the streaming service website.
- Click the NP icon next to the address bar and you will join Netflix Teleparty automatically.
Do the participants need to have a Netflix account to join?
The participants should have a Netflix account to join it. Everyone needs to sign in to Netflix and install the Google Chrome Netflix Party extension to join watching.
While watching, you can also discuss the movie with your friends using the chat feature. It will be more fun for sure.
Is Netflix Party available on iPad or iPhone?
Currently, it is NOT available on iPad or iPhone as well as on Android, Smart TV, tablets, PS, Xbox, others.
It is only available on Google Chrome web browser for laptops and computers.
